Our team is playing for two kids whose families utilized the Albany Ronald McDonald House - Nathan Singh and Merle Stolzfus. Here are their stories:
Nathan, a 7-year-old with a zest for life, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March of 2018. He is currently undergoing treatment and has a total of 2 years and 6 months left of treatment. He has already completed two years of treatment. He visits the hospital at least 3 to 4 times a month. Nathan loves staying at the Ronald McDonald House when he is receiving his treatments at Albany Medical Center. He loves to play games in the arcade and enjoy a movie in the movie theater. Nathan’s mom also appreciates the support and comfort that the Ronald McDonald House provides.
Mom notes, that the House keeps Nathan occupied; making him less worried about what is going on in his little body and that it also allows her to do her job as a mother without having to focus on chores. As she puts it, “When we are at Ronald McDonald House, Nathan ha my undivided attention, and it is such a blessing.”
Merle was born with a rare heart condition and has already received three open -heart surgeries since he was born. His family is Amish and they usually don’t allow photos to be taken but they said we could take one of Merle for this special hockey event. Sadly, their daughter Karen was recently born, and she had another type heart problem and multiple birth defects that could not be treated, so they took her home to be comfortable. They are so grateful to RMH for not only taking care of their family, but also Ammon’s brother’s family. They are honored that Merle will be an honorary captain for the Capital Cup for Kids and they look forward to their first hockey game.
Every dollar we raise will advance Capital Cup for Kids' great cause! Additionally, you can ask us how you can get involved too.
Together, we can make a difference for kids like Nathan, Merle and their families!
