Please support Capital Cup for Kids by contributing to our team’s fundraising page and sharing this page with your family and friends. Our team is playing for TWO Honorary Captains! Charlie and Mikey are two amazing kids that we are proud to be supporting. Here are their stories:
Charlie was diagnosed with stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma on Monday, September 17, 2018. Neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer that impacts the sympathetic nervous system.
Mikey Sexton was a recipient of Make-a-Wish in February 2020. His wish was to be a Pittsburgh Penguin and boy did it come true!
Mikey was able to meet the team and eat breakfast with them. He also got his own area in the locker room where he received a personalized jersey with his & Crosby's number, 87! He then got to skate with the team on the ice after their practice, and he even got to go to a Penguins game the next day. It was the most amazing weekend!
Make-a-wish took care of every detail of this amazing trip for the family and they could not have been more grateful. They truly made his dreams of being a professional hockey player come true!
When he was diagnosed with CML, hockey is what made him “him” again. Mikey’s family says that, “the medication saved his life, but hockey saved his soul”.
Mikey’s family and friends will never forget the impact that this wish had on him.
Uncle Sam’s Hockey Club is proud to support Mikey and his family and the Capital Cup Family.
Together, we can make a difference for kids and their families!
