Our team is playing for Eva Scotto whose family utilized the Albany Ronald McDonald House. Eva, as far as we know, is the first sports executive to be “hired” as a lifetime Honorary Captain, Coach and GM in all of sports! Here is her story:
Eva is a happy 12-year-old originally from Afton, NY. Eva was born at 22 weeks and weighed only 1.1 pounds. She was not expected to live past her first birthday.
Eva was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease shortly after birth and has encountered numerous serious and often incurable health challenges over her life. Her mitochondrial disease attacks her entire digestives system along with her automatic nervous system. Her form of mitochondrial disease is very rare and there is no cure.
Eva also has a seizure disorder, is legally blind, and unable to eat without a feeding pump. She loves to learn and school and is being homeschooled while she awaits placement in a new school. Due to behavioral issues related to PTSD, Eva often cannot leave home. But there are two places she will always go to: The Ronald McDonald House and the Hockey Rink. Eva absolutely loves being a part of the Capital Cup and she truly looks forward to spending time with “her team” every year!
Every dollar we raise will advance Capital Cup for Kids' great cause! Additionally, you can ask us how you can get involved too.
Together, we can make a difference for kids Eva and their families!
