Meet our Honorary Captain – Hunter.
A note from Hunter’s amazing Mom April.
Hunter was born June 13 2019, by a scheduled C-section. The reason we had a planned c-section was because when I was 31 weeks pregnant Hunter was diagnosed with Campomelic dysplasia. What is campomelic dysplasia? Campomelic dysplasia is a severe genetic disorder that affects development of a baby's airway, lungs, bones and reproductive organs. The condition is a type of osteochondrodysplasia, which causes several types of short stature (dwarfism) involving abnormal bone and cartilage growth. They wanted me to abort Hunter because they said that he wouldn't make it but I decided that I would go full term and let God decide whether or not he makes it. Hunter spent almost 3 months in the Albany Med NICU where they placed his g-tube and did a tracheostomy at just 1 month old. At first things were tough and we had to wait for Hunter to get to a vent setting where we could bring him home. Hunter was an amazing fighter. Thankfully, his counts got better and better, and we could decrease his vent settings (which is a great thing!). Three months after he was born, we were able to bring Hunter home at the end of August 2019. With the help from Building of Love our family has been able to keep up on essential bills at this critical time.
He is now going on 5 years old (in June) and continues to make a lot of progress. We keep in touch with Building on Love and look forward to sharing his story and advocating for kids like Hunter and families like ours.

2024 will mark the 15th edition of the Capital Cup for Kids, the premiere adult hockey fundraising event in Upstate, NY.
As it has been since our inception, the focus of the Capital Cup for Kids will be to raise funds and awareness for children battling a life-threating medical condition and their families in need in the Capital Region.
This year we will provide support to Building on Love who is managing the administrative and fiduciary responsibilities of presenting the event. Funds will also benefit Capital Cup for Kids, Inc. We will also be granting funds to Make A Wish of NENY and other local organizations. Your gift will do a lot of good!
The 2024 event will feature 400+ participants making up 24 teams competing in four divisions, all vying for their names on the Capital Cup as well as for the bragging rights as the tourney’s largest fundraiser.
