Please help us support Capital Cup for Kids by making a contribution to our team and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar we raise will advance Capital Cup for Kids' great cause! We are playing for Lyle Joiner.
Here is his story:
Lyle was born on August 9, 2013 at 24 weeks, 6 days and weighed just 1 pound 12 ounces. Lyle spent his first 134 days in the NICU at Albany Med. Lyle had his first surgery at 6 days old when they discovered a small tear in his bowels that was leaking toxins into his body. Lyle’s doctors told his parents that he would most likely not make it through the surgery and to prepare for the worst. Luckily, Lyle is a fighter and after several very scary days, he pulled through. Lyle had four more major procedures, including a heart surgery, during his NICU stay. Lyle was finally able to go home on December 19, 2013, almost one month after his original due date.
Since then, Lyle has had numerous trips to the PICU in Albany Medical Center from several infections and viruses as well as diagnoses and developmental delays that are common for extremely premature babies.
He continues to work with his speech therapist at developing his communication skills. Lyle's dad is proud to play on our team - and we love playing in honor of Lyle who is our #1 fan!
Together, we can make a difference for families like Lyle's!
